BNU Faculty of Education Ranks 25th in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 Published:2020-03-06 11:53:31  Views:10

 

On March 4, 2020, Quacquarelli Symonds ('QS'), a globally influential university ranking institution, released the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject. The comprehensive ranking of BNU’s Education reached a record high, ranking 25th in the world, and the first in mainland China. This is the first time that the faculty of education BNU has been listed in the top 30 globally for two consecutive years.

In 2020 QS World University Rankings of education subject, four performance indicators were used to assess the universities, with weightings recalibrated for each subject. The indicators and their weightings for the education subject are: 1) academic reputation (50%); 2) employer reputation (10%); 3) citations per paper (20%); and 4) H-index (20%), which measures both the productivity and impact of a scholar’s publications.

 

The Faculty of Education achieved an overall score of 79.7, scoring strongly on all the criteria, coming as 82.3 on academic reputation, 75.2 on employer reputation, 79.2 on citations per paper; and 75.8 on H-index.

 

Since 2012, QS has regularly released the rankings of education in universities around the world. Over the past years, it is not difficult to find that education of BNU has made great progress in indicators such as academic reputation, average citation rate and H-Index relating to international publication.

In recent years, with the strong support from BNU and the joint efforts of all students, faculty and staff members, Faculty of Education has achieved leapfrog development in the fields of education subject construction, team building, talent training, academic research, social services, and international engagement. The comparative advantages and international influence of BNU's education discipline has also been further consolidated and strengthened. Ranking 25th in the QS 2020 World University Education Subject Ranking surely will further expand the influence of our university at home and abroad. It provides an important reference for the goal of building up a “world-class discipline” with “BNU style, Chinese characteristics, and world-class” education subject, and strengthens our confidence in contributing to major national education development strategies.
