Greetings and welcome to the Faculty of Education (FOE) at the Beijing Normal University (BNU)! 

FOE was established in 2009 through the integration of several institutes, including the former College of Education, School of Educational Technology, School of Educational Administration, Capital Institute for  Economics of Education, Capital Institute of Basic Education, Center of Assessment for Basic Education Quality of the Ministry of Education, and the Institute of Rural Education and Development. The origin of FOE can be traced back to the founding of the Department of Education of Imperial University of Peking on the initiative of the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty in 1902, which was both the precursor of BNU and the very beginning of FOE.

To build a comprehensive, distinctive, research-intensive, world-class university, BNU is committed to the university mission of knowledge creation, dissemination, and transfer, while shouldering the historic responsibility of benefiting society and serving the nation. The establishment of FOE is a strategic cornerstone in realizing this vision. FOE strives to become a critical hub for educational innovation in China, a training ground for outstanding educators, a cradle for future educational leaders, a think tank for education policy, and a platform for global educational exchange. Guided by the values of human-centeredness, unity of knowledge and action, continuous improvement, and the pursuit of excellence, FOE is grounded in China's reality while developing a global vision. It pursues theoretical innovation and practical impact through rigorous research and high-quality talent development, ultimately serving society, the nation, and humanity.
