The 2015 INEI (International Network of Educational Institutions) Meeting took place at the University College London Institute of Education (IOE) in United Kingdom from November 19 to 21, 2015. INEI is an important link to connect premier educational institutes worldwide with a commitment to sharing and promoting good practices by educators globally, whose member institutes all enjoy high International reputations for education and research. This meeting is a significant pathway to foster the collaboration and communication among the member institutes and raise the international profile of INEI. On behalf of Beijing Normal University Faculty of Education (FOE), Dean SHI Zhongying, Associate Professor CHIANG Feng-Kuang and Prof. MA Ning, a visiting scholar at IOE, participated in the meeting.
Besides FOE and IOE, other institutes that joined in the meeting were University of Wisconsin-Madison Faculty of Education, Seoul National University College of Education, University of Cape Town School of Education, Nanyang Technological University National Institute of Education, University of Toronto Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education and University of São Paulo Faculty of Education.
The meeting lasted for two days. On the morning of the first day, Dr. Simon Marginson gave a keynote presentation entitled High Inclusion in Higher Education and Continuing Problem of Social Stratification: Reflections on Global Trends. In the afternoon, two research teams whose proposals were funded by INEI gave presentations. After the presentation, in groups, the meeting participants discussed how to effectively use the platform of INEI to promote the research collaboration among INEI member institutes. On the second day, a discussion was held to talk about international student and staff mobility among INEI members. After that, all deans and associate deans attended the Dean’s Meeting. Actions the meeting agreed upon included changing the name of the network to International Network of Education Institutes, facilitating the communications among brand scholars and students who travel to other INEI institutes, building early career research network and promoting INEI programs in member institutes, etc. Next year, the 2016 INEI Conference will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Institute of Education.
