On the morning of December 4, 2015, Dr. Sam EVANS, Dean of College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, Western Kentucky University (CEBS, WKU), and Ms. Betty YU, Associate Director of WKU Confucius Institute visited the Faculty of Education (FOE) for the purpose of exploring collaborative opportunities with FOE and looking to grow their student number from China. Vice Dean LI Jiayong, Director WU Haitao and Coordinator SU Shana received the delegation.
The meeting started off by Vice Dean LI and Dean EVANS giving brief introductions about their represented institutes respectively and the various overseas opportunities the two schools provide for the students, faculty and staff. Through the conversation, Vice Dean LI and Dean EVANS found many similarities between FOE and CEBS, BNU and WKU. Both sides believed that the experience of exposing to other cultures could make a difference to the students and faculty members. Possible collaborative areas included sending students to each other’s schools for internship or student teaching practices, encouraging faculty members to spend time in each other’s school or do some teaching, etc. Both sides were excited about the potential opportunities to develop exchange programs and work together in the future.
