On the evening of October 22nd, 2015, Prof. Hugh Starkey from the Institute of Education, University of London gave a presentation entitled Children’s Rights and Schooling at Room 822, Yingdong Building. The presentation marked the end to his short term course of Citizenship Education and Moral Education in the Context of Globalization at FOE, a course hosted by Prof. Tan Chuanbao, the director of the Center for Citizenship and Moral Education, Beijing Normal University. The faculty and students of the center and some graduate students from other schools of FOE took the course.

Prior to this course, Prof. Starkey also held seminars for FOE on the topics of Citizenship and Values, Citizenship and Values and Children as Citizens from October 19 to 21. Prof. Hugh Starkey always involved course participants in small group discussions, which provided opportunities for the students and faculty to explore and discuss issues on citizenship and moral education and help them reflect on their own participation as a citizen. Thanks to Prof. Starkey, all participants learned a lot from his well-developed courses and seminars and his responsible attitude as a scholar and an educator.
