The delegates from the Institute of Special Education, FOE-BNU participated in the Summer School hosted by the Strathclyde Institute of Education, themed 'Co-developing Transnational, Innovative and Culturally Sensitive Approaches for Quality and Equitable Inclusive Education,' which offered a rich and varied programme.
Participants explored cutting-edge practice and research through sessions on inclusive science education, trauma-responsive approaches, neuro-affirmative pedagogy, ableism and autistic voice in education.
Midweek visits to Riverbrae School, St John Bosco Primary and East Park School gave participants a first-hand look at inclusive education in the Scottish context.
These visits deepened understanding and sparked thoughtful comparisons between Chinese and Scottish approaches to supporting learners with additional support needs.
The atmosphere throughout the week was one of warmth, curiosity, and mutual respect. A ceilidh and buffet on the penultimate day provided a joyful celebration of the friendships and partnerships forged.
The week concluded with powerful student-led presentations, a certificate presentation and reflections on the learning gained. The success of this event marks an important milestone in our collaboration with the Strathclyde Institute of Education and our shared commitment to equity, inclusion, and global citizenship in education.
