Jointly convened by Beijing Normal University and UCL Institute of Education, the Sixth International Conference in Education, with the theme of Education and Mobilities: Ideas, People and Technologies, was successfully held during May 12 to 13, 2017 in Beijing. Over 170 delegates from more than 10 countries and regions from the UK, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Hong Kong and Taiwan attended the conference to share research and good practice in education.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Li Jiayong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University. Prof. ZHOU Zuoyu, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, Prof. ZHU Xudong, Dean of Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University and Prof. Becky FRANCIS, Director of UCL IOE gave opening remarks. At the main forums, Prof. YANG Zongkai, President of Central China Normal University, Director Becky FRANCIS, Prof. SHI Zhongying, Former Dean of Faculty of Education Beijing Normal University, Prof. HONG Chengwen from Faculty of Education Beijing Normal University, Prof. Yasemin SOYSAL from University of Essex, and Prof. Diana LAURILLARD from UCL Knowledge Lab delivered keynote presentations. 14 panel sessions with a total of about 80 presentations were given at Ying Dong Conference Hall and Ying Dong Building. Prof. Hugh STARKEY and Prof. LI Mang, Academic Chairs of the Conference, delivered their summary speeches at the closing ceremony.

Organized in partnership between Beijing Normal University and the UCL Institute of Education, this biennial event provides a dynamic international forum for sharing research and good practice in education. Themes of previous conferences include “Preparing Teachers for a Changing Context”（2006, London）, “Leadership in a Learning Society”（2008, Beijing）, “Education and Citizenship in a Globalizing World”（2010, London）,“Equality and Quality in Education”（2012, Beijing）and “Learning in a Changing World”（2014, London）. The Seventh International Conference in Education will be held in London.
