On the afternoon of November 25, 2015, the Faculty of Education and Springer organized a book signing ceremony for a new collection of the English book series Perspectives on Rethinking and Reforming Education at Room 352 of Yingdong Building. Dean SHI Zhongying, Vice Dean YU Shengquan, Editorial Director of Springer Social Sciences and Philosophy Myriam Poort, Executive Editor for Liberal Arts LI Yan, Assistant Editor for Education ZHANG Miao, some FOE faculty who have published in foreign languages and some administrative staffs from the Office of Academic Affairs attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Vice Dean YU Shengquan.
Director Myriam Poort gave an overview of the cooperation between Springer and FOE in the past and the realities and challenges facing liberal arts press in Asia. Since Springer and FOE signed the first collection of foreign language book series New Frontiers of Educational Research in 2011, 9 books in foreign languages have been published and the publication contracts for another 11 books have been signed. This new book series, Perspectives on Rethinking and Reforming Education, include 5 of the published books. Dean SHI Zhongying introduced the research background, content and research focus of the new book series. He hoped that the FOE faculty and international experts would continue to produce more high quality collaborative results in all fields of education research and believed that the new book series would inspire greater publications to come. On behalf of FOE, Dean SHI also expressed his gratitude to Springer’s contributions on FOE’s publications in foreign languages and confirmed that FOE would continue to support the publication project with Springer.

After the signing ceremony, FOE and Springer held a seminar to share experience on wiring journal articles and books in foreign languages. Executive Editor LI Yan gave a detailed presentation on the procedure of foreign language publication, the structure of paper, some advice for writing and paper review, and also pointed out some common mistakes in paper writing, etc. Assistant Editor for Education ZHANG Miao introduced how to transfer research results to publications, specifically how to apply, what to include in the paper and how to improve the readability of a paper, etc. Managers LYU Jiangfeng and ZHAO Wei shared their experience on how to use the Springer full-text database and what support authors could get if they would like to publish in Springer.
