BNU Professor XU YONG and Associate Professor Wang Chen were invited to the 35th annual conference & Executive Committee meeting during August 21 to 25 in 2013, by Prof. Dr. Eckhardt Fuchs, the President of International Standing Conference for the History of Education(ISCHE). As the secretary-general and the deputy secretary general of the history branch of CSE (THE CHINESE SOCIETY OF EDUCATION), XU and WANG have drawn the most attention.
The conference is on education and power, with these sub themes: power and educational policy; power and the teacher; power and childhood and youth; power and curriculum, textbooks, and teaching materials; power and informal education; power and gender education; power and inclusivity; power and educational sciences; power and education research methodology. 262 scholars from 32 countries focus on how power act upon the field of education, and how education is able to influence politics, the business environment, faith, teacher and parent, as well as the media.
Chinese representatives devote to keeping in fresh touch with international academic community and extending the influence of historical research of education in China. Scholars from Turkey, Britain, Spain, Italy, Brazil, America, German, Portugal and Latvia show great enthusiasm to the academic situation in China.
During the conference session, XU and WANG gave individual presentations, participated in voting for the election of the executive committee and revision of the constitution of the association. Further, cooperation and communication projects have been taken shape. Prof. Dr. Eckhardt Fuchs has already scheduled a short- term curriculum in Beijing Normal University. Prof. Noah Sobe from Loyola University, the sectary of ISCHE, and Spanish Prof. iPaulí Dàvila and Luis M. Naya from Universidad del País Vasco have also put their friendly visit into plan.
