As a dedicated education policy researcher, my main work is to focus on basic education policy improvement in China. From the perspective of theoretical research, my research interests have three aspects: 1. The influence of educational policies on educational access and social mobility of students of different social classes; especially among socially disadvantaged groups studying in relatively weak schools, such as poor rural students and migrant children, including educational opportunities and educational quality; 2. Educational governance. Under the leadership of the ruling party, how the market and the third sector participate in the provision of public education services.3. Research on family education. Include parenting, especially mothering, and non-profit organization’s support for the disadvantaged family education.

In the past decade, she has published more than 40 articles in Chinese and English journals and newspapers independently or as the first author. Presided over 17 national general projects and projects entrusted by departments of Government. She has served as independent or main members to participate in writing, forming policy advice and consulting report more than 30 copies, including many policy advice for The highest-level leader of the Chinese central government, as well as the Ministry of Education, development and reform commission, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, more than 20 was adopted for the CPPCC national committee, has obtained the certain policy influence.

Dr Xiuping ZHOU is Associate Professor of China Institute of Education Policy(CIEP),Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University(BNU).Xiuping joined BNU in 2011 as the first group of people in CIEP, which is positioned as an educational think tank since it established in 2010. Xiuping separately obtained bachelor of Philosophy at the Hunan Normal University in 2002, Master &Doctor of Sociology at China Agricultural University in 2006 and Renmin University of China in 2009. Previously she worked as a postdoctoral research Fellow at School of Public Policy &Management, Tsinghua University from 2009 to 2011. She went to King's College, Oxford, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for two weeks of short-term academic exchanges. Dr. ZHOU is also holding a number of other academic and professional positions including editor to the Journal of China Non-profit Review and a part-time researcher for the Non-government Organization Research, Tsinghua University Center since 2009, and member of expert team of Center for Beijing Citizen Public Civilization Index Research in Renmin University of China from 2009～2012. She was also part-time researcher of Center for Crisis Management Research (CCMR) at School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University from 2009～2015.
