BNU Team Wins the Seventh Place in the Twelfth International Robot Olympiad University Conventional Match Published:2015-11-20 17:35:13  Views:10

World Robot Olympiad (WRO), as one of the world's three major robot games, is an international activity and highest academic event that synthesizes education, science and technology. Since November 2003, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries have launched and set up the WRO Committee, hoping to provide a common platform for young robot enthusiasts worldwide by hosting the annual WRO World robot Olympiad contest.

In 2015, WRO was held in Doha, Qatar and included different competition categories such as primary and middle school group, university group, regular season, and creative competition, etc. This year, after the internal selection in the School of Educational Technology, FOE, a team stood out and participated in the regular college competition on behalf of China. The team was led by Professor Li Yanyan and Associate Professor Chiang Feng-Kuang, and included students such as Liu Enrui, Jiang Shuhan, Sun Bofan, etc.

This year, the regular college competition of WRO was "bowling". The competitors should make the robot set out from the base, take two red balls twice, send the red ball to attack bowls placed in different forms. After completing the task, the robot had to return to base.

37 national teams participated in the competition. In case of backward equipment conditions, withstanding the great pressure, after continuous strategic adjustment and mechanical structure modification, the team of BNU qualified for the last sixteen. And in the next day’s final performance, it got the seventh place depending on its stable performance. The teachers and students of Beijing Normal University demonstrated their fearlessness of difficulties and courage to move forward.

Participating in an international competition as WRO, our team not only represented the Faculty of education, but also Beijing Normal University and China. We owed great thanks to the guidance and help from the senior schoolmates and the strong support by the Faculty of Education, and we were very proud of the performance of teachers and students from the School of Educational Technology, FOE in such an international competition.
