Faculty of Education Holds a Meeting with the Delegation of the University of North Carolina Published:2013-05-15 16:03:01  Views:10          On May the 14th, Li Jiayong ,vice dean of the Faculty of Education met with the delegation of the University of North Carolina, and held a further discussion on the Joint Online Courses Project. Professors and graduates students at the Institute of Early Childhood Education and several Ed. D. Students at the School of Educational Technology attended the meeting.

  Prof. Li Jiayong started the meeting by introducing the mission and the tradition of the Beijing Normal University, the history of the Faculty of Education, and the trends in early childhood education in China. Prof. Elmer Poe then gave an introduction to the purpose of the Global Understanding Project that started in 2003l, the countries involved in the project, as well as the progress of the Joint Online Courses Project. Based on Prof. Elmer, with the help of remote technology and online resources, students from the two countries can set up a virtual environment to do face-to-face discussion and cooperate on study projects, and thus promote the new mode of study. Dr. Pamela Shue and Prof. Li Minyi gave a general introduction to the preparation, curriculum and syllabus, as well as technical support etc. of the Joint Courses. The Prof. Li Jiayong agreed that international joint courses would be a trend in internationalized higher education and mentioned that the Faculty of Education would help push forward this program.

 Prof. Elmer Poe and Prof. Rosina Chia shared their experience in the on-site technical support and teaching strategies. Prof. Huang Ronghuai from the School of Educational Technology and his team provided technical support and guidance for this joint project.

  The Joint Online Courses is scheduled to kick off in the academic year of 2014.
